This is an original color etching by Austrian artist Tavik F. Simon. The title is: Nocturne in Auray, Brittanny. This image was created and printed in 1911 in an edition by G. Petit of 200 signed impressions. The image measures 11 1/4X16 3/8 inches. ..Pencil signed by Simon lower border, printed on a medium weight watermarked laid type paper. This image appears in the Novak catalog as image number 179.

Etching is 9 3/8 x 11 7/8 inches on 11 3/8 x 14 5/8 inch wove-type paper, printed by the artist. The work is pencil signed, c. 1910. The Church of St. Sophia, or "Sophienkirche", was the only gothic church in the whole city of Dresden. It was severely damaged in the Dresden bombing in 1945, and later destroyed completely in 1962 by the German Democratic Republic.
Menpes attended the School of Art in London in 1878 and started exhibiting at the Royal Academy in 1880. He became a major figure in the etching revival, producing more than seven hundred different etchings and drypoints, which he usually printed himself. Menpes was taught etching by James McNeill Whistler and they lived together for some time.

This is a remarkable original etching by Czechoslovakian artist T. F. Simon, depicting the stunning architecture of the Puente Nuevo bridge in Ronda, Spain. The image size is 13 1/4 x 9 1/8 inches, published in 1913 in an edition of 150, cat: Novak-206, numbered in pencil with the artist's stamp lower left, pencil signed lower right. The Puente Nuevo was designed by architect Jose Martin de Aldehuela, and was built over the course of 42 years, from 1751-1793.
