Prints

This is an original wood block print by American artist Isac Friedlander.  Created circa 1930 this image is titled: "Companions", It is pencil signed and titled in the lower border.  The image measures 11 3/4X9 3/4 inches.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper.  Isac Friedlander (1890-1968) was born in Mitau, Latvia. He was arrested in 1906 and imprisoned by Russian authorities for anti- Czarist Political activities from 1906 to 1912. He studied art at the Academy of Rome, Italy from 1913 until 1917. He was a friend of Russian writer Maxim Gorky. Friedlander began his printing career in 1915. In 1917 he repatriated to Russia during the Kerensky regime, but in 1929 Friedlander immigrated to the US with the encouragement of his cousin Joseph Hirshhorn.

This is an original etching and drypoint by American artist Louis Rosenberg.  The title is: The Grand Canal, Venice, it is printed on a medium weight laid type paper.  This etching was created and printed in 1927.  The image measures 8 7/8X13 7/8 inches.  Hand signed in pencil lower right border, very fine condition, nice use of plate tone in the sky and water.  A very rare image, Rosenberg at his best!!!...

This is an oriignal etching, pencil signed by British artist Mortimer Menpes (1855-1938)  The title is: Under the Bridge, Japan, Nagasaki.  This etching was created and printed in 1896 in an edition of 50 impressions.  This has the "imp" after the artist's name which means that he printed this impression himself.  The image measures 4X11 7/8 inches.  It appears in the Morgan catalog as image number 165 I/III.  Printed on a light weight laid type paper.

This is an original drypoint etching by French artist Alphonse Legros (1837-1911)  The title of this work is: La Ferme De Labbaye (farm at the monastery)  Created and printed circa 1880, this image measures 8 1/2X11 1/8 inches.  Hand signed and titled in pencil.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper with a partial watermark.

Plate measures 10 x 7 3/4 inches on 16 1/4 x 12 1/8 inch watermarked laid type paper. State V/VIII. One of his six final plates, later chosen for publication in the review "L'Art" in 1904, volume LXIII. Catalog: Melot 122. Circa 1877. Printed in the lower right: "Ch. Daubigny. del. et. sc", in the lower right: "F. Lienard. Imp. Paris."

This is an original etching by Belgium artist Jules DeBruycker.  It is titled Ruelle Gand, it was created and printed in 1906.  Hand signed and titled in pencil, Le Ruelle.  The image measures 13 1/2X5 1/2 inches.  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper.  With a Van Gelder watermark.

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Charles Adams Platt.  The title of this work is "Pier at Larmor".  It was created and printed in 1885.  The image measrues 14 1/8X8 1/2 inches.  One of a series of Dutch etchings that he created during this period of travel in Europe.  This is included in the Platt catalog as image number P-55.  Framed.

This is an atmospheric marine etching by J. Henry Hill, after the painting by Otis Weber. The image measures 14 1/2 x 18 1/2 inches, published in 1886 by Klackner, New York, pencil signed on the lower right margin. Hill came from a family of artists and became a well known landscape and marine painter keeping with the pre-raphaelite tradition, influenced by John Ruskin and David Johnson.

Rare print with remarque from 1883, plate signed in the lower left. Catalog: Schneider 78. Edition of 30 with remarque. Plate measures 9 1/2 x 16 3/4 inches on 15 x 22 inch wove type paper. This is an atmospheric print with lovely plate tone.

Drypoint from May 25th, 1909. Pencil signed and editioned, with pellet stamp. Plate signed in the upper right corner. Print 22 of an edition of 50. Image measures 8 1/4 5 3/4

"The Three Sisters" by Sir Francis Seymour Haden measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/4 inches, pencil signed, 1868, state VI/V, cat: Schneiderman-119. Sir Francis Seymour Haden was one of the most important British etchers of the 19th century, along with his brother in law James Whistler. In addition to being a highly regarded artist he was a successful surgeon, accomplished author and dedicated angler. He was a founder and the first president of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers, and was knighted in 1894.

This is a large original pencil signed lithograph by American artist Joseph Pennell.  The title is: The Gun Factory, it was created and printed in 1917 as part of his series War Work in America.  The image measures 20 3/4X15 1/2 inches.  Printed on a laid type watermarked sheet.
