This etching by the Czech artist, Tavik F. Simon, measures 7 3/4 x 4 5/8 inches, pencil signed, 1914, cat: Novak-229, in an edition of 150. Simon studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and traveled extensively throughout Europe, as well as Asia and the U.S. He lived in Paris from 1905-1913, then returned to Prague to teach at the Academy of Fine Arts. He was an exceptional painter and printmaker, and is best known for his atmospheric color etchings and aquatints.

This 1906 etching by the American artist Joseph Pennell measures 12 x 5 inches, pencil signed, printed by the artist, 1906, cat: Worth-433, edition of probably 50.
Pennell was an important American etcher, lithographer and illustrator. Good friends with James McNeill Whistler, he and his wife co-authored his biography. Pennell was known for his continued experimentation with technique and style, producing cityscapes, landscapes and marine scenes.
