This is an original oil on canvas by American Marine artist Marshall Johnson.  This view of a Sailboat in a stormy sea.  This painting measures 14X18 inches.  It is clearly signed lower left corner.  It came to us in what appears to be the original turn of the century picture frame.  The painting is in superb condition, no evidence of any repairs or inpainting.  "Born and raised in Boston, Marshall Johnson set sail for South America aboard the ship Sunbeam at age of eighteen. Tragically, the ship caught fire and burned at sea, and Johnson was one of only twelve survivors. This harrowing experience did not dampen Johnson’s enthusiasm for the ocean, however; he returned to Boston and took classes at the Lowell Institute and the Boston Art Club, and then studied painting with well-known marine artist William E. Norton. By 1884, Johnson had opened his own studio at 12 West Street in Boston"

This is an original oil on canvas painting by American artist James Gale Tyler.  The subject shows a Sailboat towing two Dories.  It is clearly signed lower left corner and has an image that measures 24X20 inches.  This painting has a few minor repairs and is lined.  It is very presentable as it now appears.  A fine image of working at sea with the Sailors climbing up the mast.

This is an original pencil signed impression of the well known etching, Valkulla by Swedish artist Anders Zorn, 1860-1920.  This impression measures an image area 11 3/4X7 3/4 inches.  Printed on a watermarked, laid type sheet, very wide borders all around, in nice condition, very light even toning to the sheet where the window mat once exposed it to the light, but unobtrusive, this is a very fine and rich impression, printed on a buff toned sheet.   Catalogue Ref. Asplund 251.

This is an original oil on mahogany Panel by French artist Georges Lucien Boichard.  This painting is signed and dated 1883 upper right.  The painting measures 13 1/4X9 1/4 inches.  It is housed in a period gilt frame with added inner liner.  Boichard was a well known French Portrait artist.  He lived in Paris and his work was accepted to the Paris Salon in 1880.  The overall frame measures 23X19 inches.

This is an original pencil signed mezzotint by British artist Sir Francis Seymour Haden.  The title is: Breaking up of the Agamemnon No. II.  This mezzotint was created in 1880, one of his most popular images, like the earlier etched impression done 10 years earlier in just etched lines.  This image is made up of tone as well as lines in the composition... This subject illustrates  the last of the wooden hulled warships, The Agamemnon,  at the breakers yard .  With the setting sun behind it is truly a romantic view  of the end of an era of tall wooden ships.  The image measures 9 3/4X18 3/8 inches.  Pencil signed lower right border, this is the IX/IX  state.  Printed on a heavy weight wove type paper.  A rich dark impression.  "The Agamemnon in the process of being dismantled is moored to a buoy in the Thames opposite Greenwich...."

This is a fine original lithograph on Chine applique by American artist Yasuo Kuniyoshi.  The title Before the Act, was created and printed in 1932 in an edition of only 40.  Pencil signed and dated, printed by Grant Arnold, Woodstock.  The image measrues 13 1/4X9 3/4 inches.  Very fine condition.  This image appears in the Davis catalog as image number 54.

This is a fine original oil on canvas by French artist Hermine David 1886-1970.  The subject is a group of strollers in Luxembourg Gardens, Paris.  This painting done circa 1930 is signed lower right and measures 18 1/8X15 inches.  Housed in a custom French style frame.  Hermine was one of the Ecole de Paris artists.  In 1918 she married Jules Pascin.  Their association seems to have been an influence on the artwork of both artists.

Watercolor on paper, signed and dated lower right, 1807, 20 x 27 inches in a gold 29 x 25 inch frame. A beautifully detailed watercolor that remains vibrant, even after over 200 years. Ramsay Reinagle first studied under his father, Phillip Reinagle, before going on to study in Italy, Holland, and Rome. Reinagle painted portraits, historical subjects, animals, and landscapes. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Society of Painters in Watercolours.

This is an original oil on Canvas painting of a Grand Child''s Birthday present.  The painting is signed lower right corner but not easy to make out.  It looks like H. J. ..........?  The canvas measures 17X14 inches and came in a fine period gilt frame.  There is one repaired tear in the lower center of the canvas and some cracking to the paint.  Over all a very fine painting highly detailed.  Guaranteed to be   a mid to late 19th century work.  Most likely British or American origins...

This is a fine original pencil signed etching by American artist John Sloan.  The title is: Fifth Avenue Critics, created and printed in  1905 in an edition of 100.  This image measures 5X7 inches, printed on a medium weight laid type sheet with partial watermark.  Pencil signed, titled and numbered 100 proofs.  This impression was given to Mrs Paul Bartlett of Gloucester in 1916.  This image appears in the Sloan catalog as image number 128.  Very fine condition.

This is an impressionistic original color etching and aquatint by French master of the Belle Epoch, Manuel Robbe (French 1872-1936) The title of this work is:
"Le Bouquet de Violettes", it was created and printed in 1903 in the first edition of only 65 signed proofs. A larger edition was published after the signature was added to the plate. This etching is hand signed in pencil lower right. The image measures 17 1/2X11 3/4 inches. A fine impression, previously sold by Merrill Chase galleries, it appears in the Chase catalog as image number 105. Robbe studied at the Academie Julien and the Ecole des Beaux Artes in Paris.
With his hand application of color no two images look exactly the same, a very painterly technique.

This is an early 20th century landscape painting, oil on canvas titled: "The Oak", it was created circa 1920-30's.  It is signed lower left corner with the initials A. F. and also initialed and titled on the back of the canvas.  The painting itself measures 18X24 inches.  A fine impressionistic view of a woodland scene with a figure in the background.  Very good condition, the artist is a mystery.  This might possibly be the work of Alexis J. Fournier...

This is an original etching and drypoint by American artist James M Whistler.  The title is "The Forge", An interior view of the Blacksmith and his apprentices.  The image printed on a thin Japan type paper has in image size of 7 5/8X12 1/2 inches.  Extensive use of plate tone, a rich impression, This impression is the 6th state of 6 prior to the cancellation of the plate.  It was created in 1861 as part of his series, "The Thames Set"  It appears in the Kennedy catalog as image number 68.  A fine image in very nice condition.

This is an original color aquatint  etching  by French artist Manuel Robbe.  The title of this work is: Nocturne, (ou Le Flirt), The image measures 13 5/8X17 3/8 inches.  It is signed lower left by hand within the image.  This image appears in the Michael catalog as image number 35, created and printed in 1906 in an edition of 100.  Nicely framed with archival materials.

This is an original aquatint etching by American artist Doel Reed.  This image was created and printed in 1941 in an edition of 100.  This was originally sold through Associated American Artists in New York.  The image measures 8 15/16X14 7/8 inches.  Pencil signed lower right.
