Prints

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Joseph Pennell.  The title is The Debacle of De Lesseps, Panama.  This was part of his Panama Canal series that Pennell created in 1912, showing the construction of the Canal through Panama.  THe title refers to The French diplomat Ferdinand de Lesseps, who undertook the project in 1875 and failed.  The image measures 9 3/8X12 1/4 inches.  Printed on a medium weight watermarked laid type sheet.

This is a fine original etching by French artist Auguste Brouet (1872-1941)  The title is: Un rassemblement en Camargue, it was created and printed in 1925.  This image is numbered as 44/75 ..The image measures 8X12 1/4 inches.  the Cercle de la Librairie drystamp. in the lower right border.  Hand signed and numbered in pencil.  Fine condition with elaborate remarque in the lower border.  Boutitie 320, IFF 36.1, BPL 13, Universität Osnabrück, EH 4.

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Harold Kerr Eby.  The title is: Lobster Fleet, created and printed in 1937.  A fine atmospheric study of a lone fisherman in the foggy morning bay.  This image measures 9 1/2X11 1/2 inches.  Printed in an edition of 100.

This is a fine original etching by British printmaker Ernest Lumsden.  The title is: Mosque and Temple, created and printed in 1914 as plate no. 2 from His Indian Series.  This etching is hand signed in pencil with the "imp" after his name meaning that he printed this impression himself.  It is also inscribed as: "4th trial state no. 2" lower left border.  It appears in the Lumsden catalog as image number 167.  The image measures 8X9 7/8 inches.  Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.

This is a fine original pencil signed etching by American artist Ernest Roth.  This New York View is of Union Square, created and printed in 1929.  The image measures 9 7/8X7 1/2 inches.  Printed on a medium weight "F.J. Head" watermarked laid type paper.

This is an original etching by British artist William Strang.  The subject is: Portrait of Sir Henry Rider Haggard, created and printed in 1911.  This image is pencil signed by the artist and measures an image of 15 7/8X10 7/8 inches. Printed on a medium weight laid type sheet, very nice condition, a rich and detailed impression.  "Sir Henry Rider Haggard KBE was an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations, predominantly Africa, and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. He was also involved in land reform throughout the British Empire."

This is a fine color woodcut by German artist Martin Erich Phillipp.  This artist known for his color woodblock prints printed in the 1920's in the Arts and Crafts style.  This image of Two Red Parrots is hand signed and titled as " Rote Arar I"..The image measures 9 1/8X6 1/2 inches.  Very richly colored, it looks like a monoprint.  The work of this artist is quite scarce in the USA.  Printed on a handmade Japan type sheet.

This is a fine drypoint etching on copper by American artist Frank Benson.  The title is Rising Geese, it was created and printed in 1924 in an edition of 150, printed on Whatman Paper.  The image measures 6 7/8X8 3/4 inches.  This image appears in the Ordeman catalog as image number 238

This is a finely detailed line engraving by British artist Robert Sargen Austin.  The title is: "The Pack Bridge, Aylestone, Leicestershire".  The image measures 4 13/16X4 7/16 inches.  It was created and printed in 1926 and appears in the Dodgson catalog as image number 65.  It was printed in an edition of 60.  

This is a fine early state of the well known etching, Egham Lock,  created and printed in 1859 by British artist Sir Francis Seymour Haden.  This image measures 5 15/16X8 7/8 inches.  Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.  this image appears in the Schneiderman catalog as image number 21   iii/x.  Hand signed in pencil.   A fine impression in great condition.

This is a fine example of the color aquatint etchings of Austrian artist Tavik František Šimon  The title is: "APSE OF NOTRE-DAME DE PARIS IN WINTER", it was created and printed in 1924 in an edition of 300 published by the Society of Graveurs Modernes in Paris.  The image measures 12 3/8X17 3/4 inches.  The etching is pencil signed by the artist lower border.

This is an original color etching by American artist Dorsey Potter Tyson.  The title is: Gossip, created and printed in 1928,  This image is hand signed in pencil and numbered as XXXVIII lower left, also indicated that he printed this impression himself.  The image measure 8 1/2X9 1/2 inches.  It was framed and sold by The Casson Galleries in Boston, dated 1929.

This is a fine original pencil signed and titled etching and drypoint by American sporting artist Roland Clark.  The title is: The Conference, created and printed in 1925.  The image measures 8 3/4X11 3/4 inches.  Fine use of plate tone in the sky.  A rich impression printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.  Numbered as 15/62 impressions.

This is a rare early state etching by American artist Frank Benson.  The title is On Set Wings, created and printed in 1923.  This is a trial proof, hand signed in pencil, before the addition of the clouds and lines at the shore.  This image was later used as a frontispiece for Volume III of the Paff catalog.  The image measures 4 1/2X5 7/8 inches.  The image appears in the Ordeman catalog as image number 223.
