This is an early wood engraving by American artist Asa Cheffetz.  This pencil signed impression is titled Early Morning, taken at Broad Brook in Connecticut in 1929.  The image measures 6X6 inches.  Hand signed and titled  in pencil..One of his finest wood engravings.  In fine condition.

This is an original hand colored lithograph by British artist David Roberts.  The subject is: Ruins of Baalek, Heliopolis, Egypt, Created and printed in  1839.  This image measures 13 3/8X19 1/2 inches.  Signed and titled in the plate.  This litho was created by Louis Haghe and published by E.G. Moon as plate 77 of his Holy Land series.  This lithograph is in fine condition, matted and framed.

This is a fine original wood engraving by American artist Leo Meissner.  The title is: Days End, it is pencil signed, titled and numbered as 8/40.  The image measures 8X10 3/4 inches.  Created and printed in 1936.  Most likely the coast of Maine.

This is an original color etching by Austrian artist Tavik F. Simon.  The scene is of a Bric A. Brac shop in  Brittany.  This etching was created and printed in 1926 and published in an edition of 300 by the Society of Graveurs Modernes in Paris.  The iage measures 12X14 1/2 inches.  It is pencil signed lower right and has an edition number of 118.  This etching is in the period frame with French Matting.  This image appears in the Novak catalog as image number N.445.

This is an original wood engraving by American artist Herbert Waters.  The title is: Arden Falls, Early Spring, created and printed in  1969 in an edition of 65 impressions.  This large image measures 5 1/2X15 3/4 inches.  Pencil signed, titled and numbered as 32/65.  Very fine condition, rich inking, incredible detail.  Arden Falls on the Tygart River  is in West Virginia .

This is a rare wood engraving by American artist Stefan Hirsch (1899-1964)  The title of this work is the Pencil Seller, created and printed circa 1930's.  This image pencil signed lower border has an image size of 12X9 inches.  The borders are a bit trimmed.

This engraving by James Smillie measures 15 x 22 3/4 inches. Created after four paintings by Hudson River School founder Thomas Cole, this early lettered proof impression, published in Boston by L.A. Elliot, reads, "From the original Painting by Thomas Cole, in the possession of Rev.d Gorham D. Abbott, Spingler Institute, New York", under the title on the lower margin. Also included on the lower margin is a poem by J.H. Daniels. In 1842 Thomas Cole did a series of paintings that represented an allegory for the four stages of life; childhood, youth, manhood, and old age. Each phase accompanied by a guardian angel. In "Old Age" the voyager is looking across the river of life towards an angel filled sky, ready to enter the kingdom of heaven. Cole's paintings were converted to engravings after his death and widely distributed during "The Third Awakening", a period of religious activism from the late 1850's to the early 1900's.

This is a fine line engraving by French artist Jean Emile Laboureur.  The title of this work is Le Retour de la Peche.  Created and printed circa 1920's this image measures 4 X 3/3/4 inches.  Hand signed and numbered in pencil in the lower border. 27/55.    Though Laboureur was initially inspired by Lautrec and the Primitivism of Paul Gaugin, he is considered to be the first printmaker to be strongly influenced Cubism. By the end of World War I, the artist had gained wide acclaim as a book designer and illustrator. The artist died on June 16, 1943 in Pénestin, France.

This transfer lithograph by Arthur Davies measures 16 5/8 x 11 9/16 inches in an edition of 25 or less. Created in 1921, it is signed by the artist on the lower margin. Printed on medium weight paper, it is #189 in the Czestochowski catalog. Davies was known for his unique decorative style, often visualized in a fantasy world of female figures. One of the most respected and successful American artists, he was a member of the "Eight" and was the principal organizer of the 1913 Armory Show.
